Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, staying in the best hotels is the way to go. From a boutique hotel with an elegant pool to a luxury property in one of the world’s most popular destinations, there are plenty of options for every type of traveler.
The perks of a stay at one of these luxury properties can be priceless, but there are also plenty of ways to save on accommodations and still enjoy a memorable trip. In the past, if you wanted to make sure your hotel was one of the best in town, you had to spend time researching the top choices, which often meant calling in advance or visiting local tourism websites for recommendations.
While this process still has its merits, it is now much easier to find information about the best hotels thanks to technology and social media. In fact, according to a recent survey from CivicScience, some of the most trusted hotel review sites aren’t even those you would think of first.
For instance, TripAdvisor and Google came in second and third place, but these sites were only trusted by 7% of respondents. In contrast, more than 80% of respondents said they trusted none of the top review sites, including Expedia, TripAdvisor and Trivago.
If you’re looking for a luxurious hotel, the best ones will be unique to their city and region, while still offering all of the luxuries you would expect. For example, if you’re in New York, three of the experts we spoke to raved about The Plaza as one of the best hotels to stay at, thanks to its “beautiful royal decor, iconic gastronomic experiences and the traditional afternoon tea.”
Another NYC option that stands out for its opulence is The Carlyle. The 1930s-era property is a tribute to art deco opulence that doesn’t feel the need to keep up with every design trend, which means guests can enjoy a stay in a room with natural wood floors and marble bathrooms.
In Manila, The Discovery Primea is a great choice for those who want to experience both culture and luxury. The rooms are decorated in cool pebble tones and feature Filipino rattan furniture. It’s located right on a busy street, but the noise melts away in the spacious, high-ceilinged lobby. And the Ayala Museum and a speakeasy-style bar called the Curator are just a short walk away.
Of course, if you’re headed to the Philippines for an island getaway, you should consider the top resorts in Boracay and beyond. These islands offer everything from pristine beaches to breathtaking waterfalls and spectacular snorkeling. The Philippines is a must-visit destination, and one of these hotels can help you get the most out of your trip.
